Six Mullen High School Female Student-Athletes Sign Letters of Intent on Early Signing Day.
November 10, 2014 - (Denver, CO) – Six outstanding Mullen High School senior female student-athletes will sign National Letters of Intent on Wednesday, November 12th for student-athletes as it is the culmination of years of academic and athletic hard work. Mullen Athletic Director Hank Hooper commented, “All of these young ladies are remarkable students performing very well under high academic standards. They are dedicated and hardworking athletes who push the level of their sport to the pinnacle of fierce competition. Mullen stands with steadfast pride of the legacy they all will leave us as they move on to college next year.”
MacKenzie Edwards – Colorado Mesa University, Volleyball
MacKenzie will sign a Letter of Intent to play volleyball at Colorado Mesa University. MacKenzie is a 4 year volleyball letter recipient, team co-captain and currently holds at 3.52 GPA. She has been selected twice 1 Team All-Conference Centennial League and 4 times All-State. She is a member of the National st Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society. MacKenzie plans to study Communications at Colorado Mesa University.
Maddie Freiwald – Butler University – Volleyball
Maddie will sign a Letter of Intent to play volleyball at Butler University. Maddie is a 4 year starter and team co-captain. She has been selected 1st as a 3 year selection to the All-State Academic Team. In addition to volleyball, Maddie plays tennis, is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council and a Kairos Leader. Maddie plans to study Communications and Business at Butler.
Alexandra Hafey – University of Wisconsin-Madison – Diving
Alex will sign a Letter of Intent to dive at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Alex began diving at age 9 and has competed at Nationals seven times including AAU and USA Diving. Alex is a 4 year letter recipient and twice has placed at the Colorado State Diving Championships. She placed 6th her freshman year, 4th her junior year and is looking forward to a successful senior campaign. Alex has competed at the USA Diving National Championships in 1M, 3M, and Platform Diving. She has received the Torch Award at Mullen and plans to major in Animal Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with plans to attend postgraduate Veterinary School.
Blayke Hranicka – University of Montana - Volleyball
Blayke will sign a Letter of Intent to play volleyball at the University of Montana. Blayke is a 3 year letter recipient, 3 time All-Conference Centennial League selection, 2 time All-State selection and an Academic All-State selection. Blayke currently holds a 3.27 GPA, has received the Touching Hearts Through Athletics Award and plans to study Physical Therapy at the University of Montana.
Franny Krupp – Regis University – Lacrosse
Franny will sign a Letter of Intent to play lacrosse at Regis University. Franny is a 3 year letter recipient, 2 time 1st Team All-Conference Centennial League selection and Academic All-American. She was awarded Mullen Rookie of the Year in 2012, the Mullen Spirit Award in 2013 and voted Most Inspirational in 2014. She has received the Mullen Torch Award and Lasallian Assembly Award. Additionally, she is member of the National Honor Society, Vice President of the Student Body and a 2015 Fine Arts Foundation Debutante. Franny plans to study Business Management at Regis.
Katie Russ – Harvard University – Diving
Katie will sign a Letter of Intent to dive at Harvard University. Katie Russ is a nationally competitive diver who has not only lettered in the sport all 4 years at Mullen, but has also placed within the top spots at the State Championship meet each year. She has been awarded NISCA All-American status for both her Sophomore and Junior years. Katie currently holds the 6-dive and 11-dive records at Mullen. Additionally, Katie has competed at USA Diving’s Junior Nationals as well as having placed 6th with her synchro partner at the US Senior National Meet. Katie has been the Mullen Torch Award for the past 3 years, has a current GPA of 4.4, and is a member of both the National Honor Society and the National Social Studies Honor Society. Katie intends to study Government at Harvard with plans to attend Law School.
