March 17, 2015 - The Mullen Mustangs (1-1) made a St. Patrick’s Day visit to Cathedral Catholic (2-1) for a spring break match up in San Diego. The Mustangs lost a competitively played game by a score of 9-7. The Dons dominated the first half on the ground with both draws and ground balls while the Mustangs struggled to keep control of the ball. The half ended with a 7-4 lead for the Cathedral Catholic team. The Mustangs found themselves in the second half and the game became a defensive battle. The Dons scored only two goals, but managed to hold Mullen to three goals despite three yellow cards. In the end, poor shooting by the Mustangs (including four pipes) and turnovers cost Mullen the victory. Following the game, the Dons hosted the Mustangs for a pizza dinner on their beautiful campus.
The Mustangs will hit the beach for a bit and be back in action on Friday (3/20) when they play Canyon Crest Academy (3-0). Good luck Mustangs and have a great trip!
