Kate served as the Girls Golf Coach at Mullen from 2001-2006 and from 2012-present. Kate also works in Mullen’s counseling department and enjoys getting to know students outside the confines of her office. Kate took up golf after graduating from Colby College, where she played #1 singles and #1 doubles on the tennis team. An avid recreational golfer, Kate tries to squeeze in 9 holes whenever she can. In the summer months, Kate coordinates the junior golf program at Pole Creek Golf Course in Winter Park. Kate’s coaching successes include leading the Mustangs to 5 straight CHSAA Class 4A State Titles from 2001-2005. Kate is very excited to welcome Ashley Tait back to Mullen as an assistant coach this year!
Assistant Coach – Ashley Tait ‘05
Ashley Tait was a three-time individual winner of the CHSAA Class 4A High School Golf Championships (2002, 2004, 2005). She led Mullen to team titles all four years of her high school career. Ashley attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and recorded seven top-10 finishes in collegiate competition. She was also the individual winner of the 2007 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Conference Women’s Golf Championship and the CAA Scholar Athlete-of-the-Year in 2008. Ashley won her first professional tournament in 2011 at the Texas Women’s Open. She has played on the LPGA Symetra Tour for three years. Her best tour finish was at last summer’s Decatur-Forsyth Classic when she tied for first place but lost in a playoff.
