Patrick Gartland

 Coach | Email |(303) 880-0223

Contrary to popular belief, Coach Gartland did not learn the game of lacrosse directly from the original Iroquois aficionados of the game of Bagattaway, also known as the Little Brother of War.
Coach Gartland is a graduate of Regis High School, Regis University, and the University of Denver College of Law. He is semi-retired from his career as an engineer/attorney and now devotes more time to his two avocations—fly fishing and coaching.
This is coach Gartland’s 14th year of coaching lacrosse at Mullen and his 22nd year of lacrosse coaching overall. He is also the director of the U-19 boys’ high school division of the Vail Lacrosse Shootout, the largest and most prestigious lacrosse tournament in the United States. Coach Gartland initially developed his love of lacrosse as a spectator (watching his son-former Mullen head coach, Pat J.). Then, through the encouragement of his law partner, at age 45 became a high school lacrosse coach and a player at the Masters, Super Masters, and Grand Masters levels. With over 32 years of high school and youth coaching and officiating experience in numerous sports, coach Gartland brings a unique blend of life experiences, humor, and enthusiasm to the Mullen lacrosse program. His goal, while emphasizing the fundamentals of lacrosse and love and respect for the game, is to cultivate a lifelong sense of pride, respect, and personal responsibility in each player he is privileged to coach.
