Spring Break Trip

MULLEN HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY LACROSSE SPRING BREAK TRIP 2015

ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA

MONDAY, MARCH 16 - FRIDAY, MARCH 20TH

The Mullen High School Varsity Lacrosse Team will travel to St. Petersburg,

Florida to play lacrosse with various teams from across the U.S. The primary

purpose of this trip is to help the team members bond with one another,

strengthen their sense of teamwork, and to build positive momentum for the

overall season. In addition, the games we play will be quite competitive, helping

our players improve their lacrosse performance and their physical and mental

readiness for our season when we return.

By going through 3d, we will have the convenience of every aspect of the trip

already planned out and catered to our team. The cost of the trip is all inclusive

and includes round trip airfare on Southwest Airlines, transportation to and from

the airport and to all practices, scrimmages and games, 4 nights lodging, 3 meals

a day, coaching/practice time, games, officials and more.

SPECIFICS:

• We will have a designated chartered bus and driver just for our Mullen team.

This bus will drive the team to and from the airport and will drive them to every

practice, scrimmage and game. Practices will be held at Premier Sports

Campus at Lakewood Ranch, FL. This is the largest field complex in Florida

with 22 grass fields, 8 lighted fields, all with premier drainage systems.

• Our hotel is directly on the beach and all the other lacrosse teams from around

the country who will be attending through 3d will be in the same hotel. The

boys really enjoy the camaraderie felt there, as the hotel is primarily full of

lacrosse boys.

• Arrangements have been made at: The Postcard Inn. 6300 Gulf Blvd, St Pete

Beach, FL 33706. http://postcardinn.com. It actually made the Today show!

will be 4 players to a room. We will ask for room requests at a later date.

• A catered lunch under a tent on the practice field immediately following the

team practice each day

• After practice and lunch each day the boys will have free time to relax at the

hotel or participate in yoga on the beach, play around with the 3 lacrosse nets

that will be set up on the beach or beach volleyball.

• The team will practice approximately 4 hours a day receiving instruction from

their coaches. A box field will be set up for the team’s use as well.

• All games will start at 6:30 pm

If parents are planning on making the trip as well, there are many hotels within

the same area. If you would like to stay at the team hotel they have a block of

rooms reserved under “3d lacrosse”. You will get a discounted rate of

$229.00/night, (regular rates are between $269-$289 or higher as we get closer

to January.) When calling, ask for Candy or Ashley. Bob is the manager if you

have any issues with the reservation. You would need to contact them directly for

yourself. Bob warned us though, that the extra block of rooms for the 3d parents

will most likely be full by January.

COST:

The total cost per player is: $1,315.00

NOTIFICATION:

before March 2nd. The varsity roster will be made up of 32 players.

reservations for the team. The deposit will be refunded to those players not

selected for the Varsity. Those players who are selected for Varsity will need to

PLAYING TIME:

This is a Varsity Travel Squad. Playing time in our only game will be handled in

very much the same fashion as if we were playing in Colorado. That is, game

situations will dictate the playing time of reserves on the squad. However, one of

the primary purposes of this trip is to build team chemistry and camaraderie. Our

team training time will be a 3:1 ratio compared to our game time. We want all

players to have fulfilling experience, but don’t want to set the expectation that by

paying the travel fee, playing time is guaranteed.

FLIGHT INFORMATION:

Southwest Airlines

• Departing Monday, March 16th, flight #237 leaving Denver at 10:15 am.

Arriving Tampa at 3:40 pm

• Returning Friday, March 20th, flight #654 leaving Tampa at 4:15 pm. Arriving

Denver at 6:20 pm.

We would prefer all players to fly with the team as a group. However, we do

understand that some people would like to head out to Florida early for some

family time or to see colleges.

We have booked the flights as a group through Southwest, which is different then

booking individually. We are responsible for the cost of every flight we commit to

and no one-way fares are available through the team booking.

Please make sure you let Patty Nachazel, ([email protected]) know by

January 15, at the latest, if you are planning to fly separately. As stated above,

your son must travel both ways if you plan on him flying with the team booking.

After December 1st, you are responsible for the flight cost we have booked for

you.

We are working on a special team get together one of the evenings we will be

there. Parents and siblings are encouraged to join us for that evening. More

details will follow. This trip is going to be a beneficial and memorable experience

for the boys. It’s a great way to kick off the 2015 lacrosse season!                                                                                                             GO MUSTANGS!
